Parameters based on which the previous 4 picks were made !

Hi this time its a quick and short posting related to the previous one !

For your kind Information , the above picture is of NewYork Stock Exchange(NYSE) :P

So lets come to the matter on what basis were those 4 picks made. To be true we looked at only "52 Weeks highlow and the current market price". So what did we understand from this and based on what expectation were these picks made are explained below.

Growth Table
Stock Name@ NSE Price Rs.52Weeks High52Weeks Low% Growth to reach 52WeeksHigh
SELAN EXPLORATION382.10467.8099.1022.4%
SUZLON ENERGY LTD74.75145.7033.0594.9%
UNITECH LTD72.30116.6524.6061.3%
YES BANK LTD245.20287.7540.6017.3%

So in the above table we can see the percentage growth to reach the 52 weeks High. So our expectation are that the market remains in the positive direction of growth and so a minimum growth of "10% +" for the stocks (1) and (4) and a "40%+" growth for the stocks (2) and (3). Hope this happens around the month of march. We will also try to see if we could add some more good picks :P
FYI: The above % was calculated as (52Weeks High - @NSE Price Rs.)*100/@NSE Price Rs.

Hope you got what do we expect from these picks!!! We will bring in more parameters for our new picks from here on!

Some Recent Picks !!!

Hi its been a long time since last post !!!

Today we are going to talk of something thats gonna work (hopefully with HIS grace !).Am going to show you 4 picks and its NSE price.Lets wait and see how it grows and how fast it grows.

4 Picks for you as on 28thJanuary,2010
Name of the Company@ NSE price Rs.
SELAN EXPLORATION382.10
SUZLON ENERGY LTD74.75
UNITECH LTD72.30
YES BANK LTD245.20

These were picked as the market fell on the previous days that is from 25th Jan 2010 to 27thJan2010. This a market correction and its always considered healthy. For the past 7-8 months the market was bullish and now a correction happened because of a major factor i.e. RBI raising the CRR by 0.75 to 5.75% .
This CRR is "Cash Reserve Ratio" and it is used to control the liquidity.Inrease in CRR will reduce the money in circulation and banks will have less fund at hand to lend. This helps to reduce the liquidity and hence control the inflation as banks cannot lend more money , people have less money to spend and hence the value for money increases.
Similarly the SLR was also increased by 1% to 25%. This SLR is "Statuory Liquid Ratio" and it is the minimum percentage of liquid cash to be maintained by the banks. Only the the rest of the cash can be used for lending and hence increase in the SLR will restrict banks from lending more money.

Ok back to the picks. This dip is a good investment point to start with. Let us wait and see how these stocks grow over a period of time.

Hope this will be useful ! :P See you again in the next post. !!!

Dis-Advantages in the 3 types of investments

Hi ,

Guys dont feel negative because one post is dedicated for dis advantages alone. Its always important to know the pit falls as well. Knowing the disadvantages itself is an advantage. Let us see them one by one..

1.Investment:
+ You need to wait for long time for your money to make some decent growth. This term "long" differs based on what you expect.

+You need to spend some quality time in knowing the companies in which you want to invest and then decide.

+ You also need to know the fundamentals(Basic functioning ) as well as the technical strengths(current market positions) of the company.

2. Day Trading:
+ You should be experienced enough to step into this Day trading all alone or you will loose all the money..yeah it will eat up your money if you are not clear in what your doing and what do you want.

+ You should be quick enough in making decisions and predicting the direction in which the stock value of a particular company is moving.

+ You should spend all the days time in trading i.e. till the trading for the day closes.

+ If you dont close the trade by the closing time you would have to pay some huge amount for carrying over it to the next day. Be aware of this!

3. Speculation ... Sorry :P Please never think of this.

Common thinks that you need to generally look for while doing stock trading/investment are
+ Any global changes that would affect the stock Eg: Increase in crude oil price,Gulf wars or any natural disaster ..etc

+ Any goverment decisions against or infavour of market. Eg: Taxing scheme , budget etc

+Any sector wise changes Eg: raise in steel and cement price will affect InfraStructure sector, if world bank rejects/delays some loan sanctions, this will affect banking sector .

And many more ... we will discuss them as we move on .....

Lets understand the basics of mutual funds in the next post .. :P

Types of Share Trading/investment

Hi All,

In this post we will see 3 basic types of investments. As some of you might be knowing , they are

  1. Investment

  2. Trading

  3. Speculation

1.Let us first understand what is this investment .... here what you do is , buy some "good" shares that has the potential to grow and leave your money safe for long term meaning years togther or 6 months or it depends. Here the advantages are
+ Anualised Dividends.
+ Enough period for your amount to grow with the companies .
+ Bonus shares might be announced.
+ One time research before choosing and periodical performance watch(Quarterly performance) will be enough etc.

2.Now the trading , its also called as day trading or intraday trading in stock markets. Here you invest in a day in bulks and then close all the trade in the same day . For example in India daily trading time closes at 3:30 pm IST. So here you should watch for the minute changes happening in the market within a day i.e. your analysis time or deciding time is less. Here you take the advantage of the small fluctuations in the market within a day. These small fluctuations happen because the stock market or the stocks in which you invest is volatile. Share value is volatile i.e. keeps changing frequently because huge amounts of shares are traded(bought and/or sold) in a day. So here you need to be very careful during the entire tradung time untill you close the trade for the day. Advantages here are
+ You earn in a daily basis. (Other than market holidays :P)
+ If shrude enough you can earn even in a down time !(Beacuse the daily fluctuations will always be there).

3. Speculation ..... its not advisable to go for this and its almost like a gambling with money in the stock markets is what we know. So didnt bother to know about it. Request from this side is please dont go for this.

As you can see here two important things are yet to be put. They include "disadvantages" of each type of investment/trading types and mainly "which type will suit us". These will be comming in future postings. Hope this post is clear....

Awaiting your valuable comments !!!

Understanding:Shares

Hello All,
Today lets understand what is this share and how did it come into existance? First of all we have to understand that there are 2 types of companies 1. Private Ltd(Limited) 2. Public Limited.

In this private limited companies , to start a company one person or few people join hands , put their own money / get some bank loans. This amount is called the capital and this will help them in running the entire company from buying raw materials to end.

So when these private Ltd companies want to expand themselves, they need to invest more isnt it ? so to collect this huge capital amount one of the ways they adapt is to ask public for the money. How do they do this is by introducing shares. For example say a company ABC wants 5 crore Rs, what they do is that they will announce that they are ready to give 50 Lakh shares of Rs 10 each. This Rs 10 is called the "face value" of the share. And number of shares is 50,00,000.

This private Ltd company now becomes a public Ltd company by offering shares . When this offering is done for the first time , it is called an IPO..."initial public offering". Shares here actually means sharing the companies owner ship i.e. when you buy shares , u become a part owner of the company and that is why you get the companies profit as a dividend every year :P ... Ok thats all for today .. There are more to know...This is just some intro for understanding shares better :P

Please let me know your comments :)
